Community Service & External Affairs

The Ellington Companies believe in giving back to the community.  The firm is involved in charitable organizations and also gets its employees and families involved in the local community.  Ellington contributes to local athletic organizations around the towns of Zebulon and Wake Forest and is also actively involved on the Jobs for Life program.  We also provide financial and volunteer support to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Association.

In June of 2008 Matt Ellington joined a volunteer team of fifteen men and women, ranging in age from 15 to 70,  traveling to Nicaragua to build new homes for the victims of Hurricane Felix.  In just one week the group was able to complete two homes and start a third in an area with no electricity or running water.

The business also supports the activities of local communities and churches such as the annual support of “Operation In As Much” which coordinates the activities of churches in the Zebulon area as they reach out to the local community and provide services for those unable to do for themselves.  This operation also helps the local Hispanic community in bridging the language gap that hinders the delivery of essential community services.

Our companies are also involved in providing support to the local Chambers of Commerce, Fire Departments and Rescue Squads, American Red Cross and local organizations such as Ducks Unlimited, Trout Unlimited, and similar societies that work to protect the environment and improve the communities where we work and live.  Furthermore B&B Paving is an annual sponsor of the National Tractor Pull Association at the NC State Fair by providing equipment and personnel for track maintenance.

The Ellington Companies are involved in the development of prudent, valid performance standards both for the construction and utility industries  We support the activities of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), The National Utility Contractors Association (NUCA), The North Carolina Utility Contractors Association (NCUCA), The North Carolina One Call Center (ULOCO), the National Safety Council, NC State University and Western Carolina University.

Ellington is also participating in the following community organizations:

Continuous Blessings

The Continuous Blessings Foundation, inspired by the remarkable life and caring spirit of Chris Bunn, exists to meet the needs and create opportunities in the lives of youth in the greater Raleigh, N.C. area.

Our golf tournament helps rally the community together while having a good time and raising money to help others. Our 1st Annual CB Golf Classic raised $150,000! We are pleased to fulfill our mission by supporting The Fellowship of Christian Athletes, The Zebulon Boys & Girls Club and The National Leiomyosarcoma Foundation.

Boys and Girls Clubs

In every community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the streets. An increasing number of children are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to know that someone cares about them.

Boys & Girls Clubs offer that and more. Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence.

Boys & Girls Clubs are a safe place to learn and grow – all while having fun. They are truly The Positive Place For Kids.
