Our company is committed to the safety of its employees. Our company provides safety equipment, training and inspections to ensure that our employees and subcontractors do not have to suffer the pain and cost of accidents. We provide personal protective equipment and training so that we comply with OSHA standards and recommended safety practices including trench safety and confined space entry. We also partner with the General Contractor on their safety program for large commercial projects.
Every Monday morning our crew foremen conduct a Tool Box Safety meeting and discuss various issues of worksite safety. We also conduct our Annual Safety Day to further reinforce the importance of safety in the workplace. This half-day program includes guest speakers on various topics and is presented in both English and Spanish. Finally we hire an independent consultant to perform quarterly on-site safety inspections of all projects.
Protection of the environment is also an integral part of successful job performance. Our personnel work closely with Owners, Engineers and the Federal state and local erosion control inspectors to ensure the preservation of important steams and wetlands during construction and prevent costly and time consuming delays for violations.
Control and containment of used oil and fluids, chemicals and trash is expected from our crews and inspections are regularly conducted to ensure compliance.
We have recently begun experimenting with biodiesel and have determined it can be used in most of our fleet vehicles and off-road equipment. There are some drawbacks in both availability and fuel mileage, as well as, cold weather use and storage. However we are confident in its use in certain situations and intend to continue researching this alternative fuel source.
